Annual Conference

The ARNOVA conference is designed to create a public conversation on, as well as opportunities for presenting research about, pressing issues and vital opportunities facing the voluntary or nonprofit sector. It is both a showcase for the best and most current research, as well as a seed bed from which new research is born. This three-day event includes two plenary sessions, 180+ panel and/or paper presentation sessions, a poster session and numerous opportunities for networking/idea sharing.  Become a member.

The upcoming celebrations of 50 years of ARNOVA and NVSQ are an opportunity for reflection; and, we invite you to join us as we reflect on where we are and how far we have come as a field—research wise, pedagogically, and in practice.

In order for us to engage in such reflection, it is essential for us to consider a number of interrelated questions. For instance: Why are we where we are - as a sector, as a field of study, as individual participants, and most pertinent for our celebrations, as an association? How did we get here? What types of institutions, communities, and groups occupy this space? What have we achieved thus far? What have been our successes and pitfalls? Why are we here, as scholars, practitioners, and educators, or in other words, what is our role as we study nonprofits, or practice in them or teach about them? And, what are we mastering, missing out on, or overlooking in our research, our teaching, and in our everyday practices?
