ARNOVA is more than an association — it is a year-round scholarly community. Beyond the Annual Conference and journal, members engage through topic-focused Sections, organically formed Common Interest Groups, and governance committees that shape the direction of the field. This page is your guide to finding your place within the broader ARNOVA community.

Sections

Sections are ARNOVA's primary scholarly communities, organized around specific research topics and professional interests. Each Section hosts its own networking activities, conference sessions, and member discussions. Your first Section is included free with ARNOVA membership; additional Sections are available for $12 each.

Common Interest Groups (CIGs)

Common Interest Groups form organically around emerging topics, regional interests, or disciplinary perspectives not covered by Sections. They are free, flexible, and open to any member. CIGs are a low-barrier way to find colleagues who share your research interests and to help shape new areas of inquiry within the field.

Committees

ARNOVA's standing committees support the governance, strategic direction, and ongoing work of the association. Serving on a committee is one of the most direct ways members can contribute to the health and direction of the field. Current committees include work on awards, membership, diversity and inclusion, publications, and conference programming.
