The Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland  (UMD), Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership and the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action [ARNOVA] are pleased to announce an annual Award to recognize and encourage path-breaking research in the field of “global philanthropy and/or nonprofit leadership”. This Award seeks to acknowledge and foster comparative, international research and theory building in this field. One award will be made annually.

We are seeking nominations for a $10,000 Award to an individual member of ARNOVA in recognition of and to honor a scholar’s significant contribution to the body of research on global philanthropy and/or nonprofit leadership. [Please note, in subsequent years, the Awards Committee will seek and review research proposals for new and creative work, especially projects that incorporate and apply new insights, frameworks, and theories to the study of nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and volunteerism in comparative, international perspective.]

The Award recipient will be asked to produce a talk that serves as a “state of the field”, reviewing progress and identifying future direction for research in this area. This talk will be delivered at the 2016 Annual Conference, as well as during a subsequent sponsored visit and talk for campus and community members, hosted by the University of Maryland. A transcript of this talk will be made available on the ARNOVA and University of Maryland, School of Public Policy websites.
