NGO Leadership Transition Fellowship Program (LTFP) In Africa

Download Call for Hosts


ARNOVA and AROCSA, in partnership with the Ford Foundation, have established the NGO Leadership Transition Fellowship Program (LTFP) in Africa and invite universities and colleges in the United States to form a partnership and submit an expression of interest/commitment to host up to 13 Fellows for the 2018 spring semester at their institution.


All accredited colleges and universities in the United States that has a scholar, academic program or unit related to nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply. To learn more about the objectives and requirements, download the call for hosts above. Apply below by September 1, 2017. Selected institutions will be notified by September 18, 2017.


Application Process

Partnering institutions need to submit one application that includes:

1. A statement (5 single-spaced pages or less) that includes:

a. A clear expression of interest that highlights 1) the benefits the institution(s) offers to the program and 2) the benefits the institution(s) expect from the program
b. A brief overview of the retreat that the host institution(s) will organize, providing what the institutions (and mentors) intend to do and get out from the retreat
c. A brief description of existing nonprofit work at each institution; that including academic (or non-academic) programs and/or research of nonprofit-affiliated faculty
d. A profile of the institution(s) including a brief description hosting prior similar programs (including the support for visa applications)
e. A list of faculty members that will be mentoring the Fellows
f. A list of engagement opportunities with students and faculty; this includes but is not limited to seminars, roundtables, guest lecturing, webinars, etc.
g. A list of field study opportunities (organizations, activities, or events) with a tentative timeframe when possible
h. A brief description of the visiting privileges the Fellows will receive

2. A line item budget that does not exceed $45,000 and shows the allocation of funds between the partnering institutions as well as any cost-share
3. CV of proposed faculty mentors
4. Letters of support from the academic institutions that are partnering on this initiative



This is a twelve-month project but the expression of interest covers the US-based activities starting in January 20, 2018 to May 10, 2018. Download call for expectations and requirements.
