Greetings ARNOVA members!

I am writing this about one month after attending another successful and engaging AROCSA/ARNOVA-Africa conference, held this year in Nairobi, Kenya, hosted by Strathmore University. Thank you to Strathmore University, the AROCSA board and AROCSA and ARNOVA staff for all the work to make it a success! Thank you also to our sponsors: the Ford Foundation, the Aga Khan Foundation of East Africa, USAID, University of Nebraska at Omaha. ARNOVA is committed to a strong partnership with AROCSA and helping to develop a network of scholars and practitioners strengthening civil society in Africa through research. Next year’s AROCSA/ARNOVA-Africa conference will be in Johannesburg, July 28-31, 2020.

I also want to update you on our Executive Director transition. We were sad for Shariq Siddiqui to leave us as of the end of July--he will certainly be missed!—but we’re grateful to have Richard Kopp serving as Interim Executive Director from August 1 until we have a new Executive Director hired, which we hope will be by October 2019. The search committee is currently in the process of reviewing applications and we hope to start Zoom interviews in the two to three weeks. We received many strong applications.

Finally, please join me for the next “Chat with the President” online session for more updates and information time to meet:

  • Sep 26, 4pm EDT (also with Interim ED, Rich Klopp) REGISTER

Or please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.

Thank you!

Angie Eikenberry, ARNOVA Board President
