Dear ARNOVA members,

The Board and Staff have been working diligently over the past several months to both maintain our regular work but also begin the process of looking for a new Executive Director. The Board held a retreat in early May to discuss where we are headed and what type of person we need as ED to help us get there. We had an inspirational and fruitful two days of deliberative discussion applying the Catalytic Thinking framework, facilitated by Hildy Gottlieb from Creating the Future. We reaffirmed our commitment to the current strategic plan, and provided a broad visionary context for guiding work in the plan:

Vision: What ARNOVA makes possible for members and other stakeholders: -Open, inclusive, space/community -Impact in communities/people's lives/we are connected to something bigger -Excellence in scholarship

We also discussed the results we’d like to see from a new ED in the context of this vision and plan, and this guided our drafting of a job description. The job description is in the process of being finalized and will be ready to share soon. The Search Committee includes myself, Khaldoun AbouAssi, Brenda Bushouse, Chao Guo, Helen Liu, John Ronquillo, and Mary Tschirhart. Our hope is to start interviewing in August and have a new ED on board by November.

We very much continue to welcome your feedback on ARNOVA’s future direction, 50th Anniversary Planning, or any other matters. We are also holding several “Chat with the President” online sessions to provide the opportunity for you to discuss these or other concerns. Please feel free to drop-in during the following times:

June 12, 9am EDT

Aug 1, 11am EDT

Aug 27, 10am EDT

Sep 26, 4pm EDT

Or, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback. Thank you!
