ARNOVA’s Nominations Committee is beginning work on the slate for the 2019 election of ARNOVA Board members. We seek engaged board members who will bring previous experience with ARNOVA and diverse perspectives to the Board. We urge ARNOVA members to recommend those who they think would serve the association especially well. Please submit your recommendations, for yourself or another ARNOVA member, by February 4, 2019.

ARNOVA’s Nominating Committee solicits and welcomes recommendations and volunteers for service on the Board of Directors, and as Officers.  Elections will be held in June with service to begin in November 2019 at the Annual Meeting.  There will be two vacant at-large positions to fill for the Board, and the position of President-elect.  The nominating committee receives the nominations from ARNOVA members and makes recommendations to the ARNOVA Board on which persons to include in the ballot.

As stated in the committee charge:

 a. Service to ARNOVA.  It’s preferable that Nominees have some previous service to ARNOVA and/or the field.  Past service to ARNOVA and/or the field prepares potential Board members for their governance role by helping them understand the operation of the Association.  Past service to ARNOVA also indicates a commitment to and willingness to serve the Association.

b. Representation.  The slate of nominees should represent the diversity of ARNOVA’s current and prospective member, with attention given to: under-represented populations, disciplinary background, geographical location, home institution, and professional position in the field (e.g., practitioner, scholar).  Ensuring the Board members and officers represent a diverse cross section of the Association’s members helps ensure that the Association is responsive to the diversity of interests and needs of its membership.

c. Standing in the nonprofit research field. Officers, especially, should be individuals who have made a significant contribution to the nonprofit research field.

The person recommended or volunteering must be a member of ARNOVA in good standing.  While we prefer self-nominations, we understand that members will seek to nominate other people they feel will serve in this role well.  Please complete the information requested to assist the board in its final determination of the final slate.

Instructions for Submitting a Recommendation or to Volunteer

To nominate someone or yourself go to: https://www.arnova.org/page/2019boardnominate and complete the online form for each person you are recommending.  Please submit your recommendations by February 4, 2019.

If you have questions, e-mail David Suarez, Chair of the Nominations Committee at dsuarez@uw.edu.  Please place “ARNOVA Nominations” in the subject field of the e-mail.

Please note that the Nominations Committee generally receives many more excellent nominations than can be selected to stand for election.

Thank you! We are grateful for your help in these matters, as member participation is the key to our building a stronger Association!
