"RFP for Pracademics Diversity Research Grant

The Pracademics Section of ARNOVA announce a Request for Proposals for the Pracademics Diversity Research Grant. The total grant available is $500 which may support one or multiple requests depending on the proposal.

Although people of color currently represent 36% of the US population which is expected to grow to 50% by 2042, they are very underrepresented in nonprofit organizations. According to the Nonprofit Quarterly, only 7% of nonprofit chief executives and 18% of nonprofit employees are people of color. In terms of nonprofit governance, according to Board Source, only 8% of nonprofit board members are minorities and 30% of boards lack a single member of color despite the fact that diversity is a core value of 63% of nonprofit organizations. The Pracademics section of ARNOVA is very interested in connecting with people of color working in nonprofit organizations by building bridges in research and getting them involved in ARNOVA.

We envision this to be a true collaboration between academics and practitioners, and the goal is to have a panel discussion of the academic’s research findings at the 2018 ARNOVA conference.

We welcome all proposals relevant broadly to the focus on diversity in nonprofit staff and board.
