Call for Proposals: 15th Symposium on Public Policy for Nonprofits

Researchers, nonprofit professionals, philanthropic leaders, and policy experts are invited to submit proposals for the 15th Symposium on Public Policy for Nonprofits, taking place virtually on Friday, February 19, 2027.

Co-sponsored by ARNOVA, Independent Sector, and Nonprofit Policy Forum, the annual symposium brings together scholars and practitioners to explore pressing public policy issues affecting nonprofits and philanthropy.

Theme: Beyond Survival: Resilience in the Charitable Sector

The nonprofit sector continues to navigate rapid change. From evolving public policy and funding landscapes to workforce challenges, technological innovation, demographic shifts, and changing public expectations, organizations are adapting to an increasingly complex environment.

This year's symposium will explore how nonprofits and philanthropy are responding—not simply surviving, but building resilience for the future.

Proposals are encouraged from across the nonprofit ecosystem and may explore topics including:

  • Financial sustainability

  • Workforce stability

  • Governance and leadership

  • Technology and AI

  • Public policy and advocacy

  • Service delivery

  • Philanthropy and charitable giving

  • Cross-sector collaboration

  • Comparative and international perspectives on nonprofit resilience

Researchers and practitioners alike are encouraged to submit proposals that contribute new research, practical insights, policy analysis, case studies, or reflections on nonprofit and philanthropic practice.
