ARNOVA Public Policy Symposium: "Nonprofits in Public Policy: Challenges and Opportunities"
Share |

For the fifth year in succession, the Association for Research on Nonprofits and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) is planning to convene a seminar to present cutting-edge research on public policy as it pertains to nonprofit organizations and philanthropy. Each annual seminar has brought together researchers from the world of academia, think tanks, research centers, and nonprofit organizations representing practitioners. The 2016 Symposium will be held on Tuesday, November 15th in conjunction with the annual ARNOVA research conference to be held in Washington, DC at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

ARNOVA is pleased to issue this call for papers for the 2016 Public Policy Symposium. ARNOVA is working with nonprofit leadership organizations including the Council on Foundations, Independent Sector, and the National Council of Nonprofits in the development of the symposium. Thus, the main focus of the symposium will be on evidence based policy research and innovation that have practical application. The theme of the 2016 symposium is “Nonprofits in Public Policy: Challenges and Opportunities.” Nonprofit organizations play a central role in public policy, not only as advocates for organizations, citizens, and local communities, but also as key players in the implementation of public policy. Papers that examine the challenges and opportunities presented by nonprofit organizations providing public services, especially with government funds, are particularly welcome. Download the call for proposals to learn more about topics of special interest.

Proposals should be 5-6 pages, double-spaced and submitted by the extended deadline of September 15th, 2016

Approximately 6-8 papers will be selected for presentation at the Symposium. Authors will be notified by October 15, 2016 if their paper has been selected. The final paper should be 3000 words and submitted no later than November 1, 2016. Authors will be provided a travel grant of $500 to assist their travel to the Symposium if traveling from outside of the Greater Washington D.C. area.
