Pracademics Section News

This year's conference was very exciting for Pracademics. This section awarded their first scholarship in honor of Nancy Macduff, who is a leading pioneer in the field of volunteer administration/management. The Pracademics Leadership Team presented its first scholarship at the section's business meeting to Garland Doyle. Garland is a current ARNOVA and Pracademics member. Garland has 20 years of combined professional experience as a municipal government administrator, nonprofit capacity building consultant and foundation advisor. He is currently a doctoral student at Wayne State University where he hopes to conduct research on the expanded use of nonprofits in municipal service delivery. In addition to the scholarship, the Pracademics leadership team did an outstanding job with the two section presentations:

1) Continued Conversations - Defining and Strengthening Research at the Pracademics Nexus and

2) Pracademics Partnerships Lessons from the Field in Creating Value Through Win-Win Research Collaboration. Both sessions were well attended and engaged.

For the third year in a row, Pracademics held a networking dinner at a local restaurant to continue the conversations of Pracademics. The Pracademics Leadership team starting in 2016 will include:

Chair - Cathy Vrentas

Vice-Chair - Georgina Winfield

Secretary - Kelly Trusty

Treasurer - Sylvia Benatti

Members-at-large: Tobi Johnson, Alicia Schatteman, Emma Powell
